Rick Saines ONM

Managing Director

Rick is globally recognized as a climate change leader, and for over two decades has advised governments, multinational companies, financial institutions, funds and project sponsors on the economic transition to a low carbon economy, including being a thought leader on carbon and environmental market transactions. He is ranked by Chambers USA and Chambers Global as a leading climate change lawyer, an accolade he has held for over 10 years.  ​

​Rick serves on the Board of The Climate Registry, is the former Chair of the International Emissions Trading Association (IETA), is the CEO of the Carbon Markets Foundation, and serves on the Board of Advisors to the USC Schwarzenegger Institute.​ ​He was Awarded Chevalier of the National Order of Merit (ONM) by the President of the Republic of France for his significant contribution to the preparation of the Paris Climate Summit, and the implementation of the Paris Agreement

Marisa Martin

Managing Director

Marisa is a highly regarded lawyer specializing in climate change law and policy, with a particular focus on Article 6 of the Paris Agreement and nature-based solutions. Recognized by Chambers for her expertise and impactful contributions to the legal field, Marisa has a proven track record in guiding clients through the complexities of carbon transactions and international climate regulations.​

Licensed in California and Illinois, Marisa advises governments, NGOs, and private sector entities on implementing effective climate strategies, including accessing carbon finance to support nature-based solutions in emerging markets. Prior to Pollination, Marisa was an attorney with Baker McKenzie’s Global Climate Change Practice.

Maggie Comstock

Executive Director

Maggie brings deep expertise in carbon markets and nature-based solutions. She is globally sought after for her expertise on REDD+ nesting policy design, Article 6 operationalization, and the intersection of voluntary and compliance carbon markets.

Maggie previously served as the Senior Director of Climate Policy and Carbon Markets at Conservation International, where she led the institution’s work to support nature-based solutions for climate mitigation and adaptation within national and global policy frameworks. During her time at Conservation International, she also worked on Climate and Biodiversity Finance Policy.  ​

Prior to joining Conservation International, Maggie worked as a Policy Analyst at the U.S. Green Building Council focusing on international green building policy, sustainable cities and global market development.

Sarah Oishi

Director

Sara draws on her diverse experience in law, policy, finance, and engineering to advise a range of clients on addressing complex climate challenges. She contributes to developing high-integrity carbon offsetting and insetting projects, and transacting environmental assets, for corporate clients in technology, industrial, and food & beverage sectors, with expertise in emerging digital tools and global frameworks. She also works to enhance domestic and international climate policies to scale international finance for climate mitigation measures and nature-based solutions.

Sara was previously an Associate at a national law firm where she advised Fortune 500 corporations on complex environmental risk and regulatory issues. Before working as an attorney, she spent several years with non-profit and start-up companies helping develop innovative means of financing large scale energy efficiency projects. Sara is licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois.

Rachel Barrales

Associate Director

Rachel brings deep experience with leading voluntary carbon market (VCM) standards. She draws on this experience to advise clients on the evolving market landscape of the VCM and its convergence with international and domestic compliance systems. She routinely advises on Article 6, CORSIA and VCM developments.

Rachel was previously a Program Officer at Verra where she reviewed carbon market project documentation to assess project compliance with standard requirements and carbon credits issuance eligibility. She also supported the development of new carbon market methodologies. ​

Prior to Verra, Rachel focused on community-level climate action through Climate Change Action Plan development at local government agencies and climate adaptation projects as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Mexico.​
